Gardens big or small can be positive influences on mood and health. Whether it is a bountiful vegetable garden, a beautiful flower garden, an herb garden on a windowsill, or a bonsai tree on a desk in an office, the act of caring for another living thing nourishes the mind, body, and soul.
Mini or micro gardens have been popular in recent years. They are eye appealing and low maintenance. They often include succulent plants that are slow growing and have low demands for water.
Fairy gardens have attracted the attention of many as a fun hobby that can be enjoyed in any sized space. Last year the Noble County Master Gardeners hosted a Fairy Garden Workshop in April. Twelve ladies participated to design their own unique gardens complete with living plants, pathways, and props to create a mini landscape.
The workshop was so well received that it will be held again this spring! On May 25th the Noble County Master Gardeners will welcome back guest Marti Reed to lead our second Fairy Garden Workshop at the Noble County Extension Office in Caldwell. The class will begin at 1:00 p.m. and conclude by 3:00 p.m.
Due to limited accommodations, advanced registration is required to participate in the workshop. Registration forms are available in the county office or by clicking here: Fairy Garden Workshop Flyer. Please return your form and $35 to Noble County OSU Extension care of Christine Gelley 46049 Marietta Rd. Caldwell, OH 43724. Registration is due by May 18.
All of the materials will be provided. You may bring your own figurines to include if you wish. Don’t miss out on the fun! Register early. Feel free to call 740-732-5681 or email gelley.2@osu.edu for additional information.
