At the July meeting of the Noble County Planning Commission, a great deal of discussion was held on the need to identify potential economic development sites in the county. There is a need to identify other possible property opportunities to make Noble County competitive in assisting companies looking to locate or to grow here. The Ohio State University Extension – Community Development program, responsible for coordinating Noble sites in the JobsOhio Zoom Prospector site selection system, indicates that to date, Noble County has a limited number of active sites and buildings in the system.

With the goal to increase local real estate inventory and active development of sites and building, the Planning Commission invites property owners to learn more about the attributes of quality economic development sites and how they might partner to list potential sites in the Noble database for consideration. Aug. 19 presentations will be provided by the JobsOhio regional partner serving Noble County, The Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth (APEG). Also present will be leaders from the Belmont County Port Authority who have had recent success in partnering with private land-owners and developers.

The next meeting of the Noble County Regional Planning Commission will be on Monday, Aug. 19, at 4 p.m. at the Noble County Health Department’s lower-level meeting room. Property owners interested in preparing and marketing their land for development are welcome; RSVPs appreciated to OSU Extension by calling 740-732-5681 or via email at stewart.1818@osu.edu.
