At the annual meeting of the Ohio Joint Council of Extension Professionals, Nancy Snook, 4-H educator in Noble County was honored by her Ohio State University Extension colleagues with the Charles W. Lifer Excellence in 4-H Award. The award is presented annually to the Ohio 4-H educator who has demonstrated exceptional achievement.
4-H Youth Development Educator Nancy Snook leads the local 4-H program with its 1,600 youth through regular 4-H clubs, special interest clubs and other programming. Noble has 35.46 percent of its youth participating in 4-H programs, the highest per-capita program in the state of Ohio.
Nancy Snook has served as the 4-H Educator in the Noble County Office since 2003. She has been a 4-H Educator in Ohio and Kentucky Extension service for a total of almost 30 years.
Snook has a Master’s Degree in Agriculture Education with an emphasis in Extension Education and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture with a major in Agriculture Economics.
She has served on the OSUE 4-H Animal Science Design Team and the State 4-H Animal Strategic Advisory Committee by appointment. She serves on the Program and Curriculum Committee of the National Youth for Quality Care of Animals and the National Quality Assurance Curriculum Committee as the appointed Ohio representative, as well as an appointed member of the Ohio Advisory Committee on Livestock Exhibitions for the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
She is also an active member of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents; Epsilon Sigma Phi Alpha Eta Chapter and the Ohio Joint Council of Extension Professionals.
Snook also serves as an active member of the Noble County CARES Opioid Coalition and its Education subcommittee. She is a member of the Noble County Board of Health, a member of the Noble County Family and Children First Council and a Citizens Advisory Board member for Noble Correctional Institution. She is a member of Noble County Farm Bureau and the Noble County Cattleman’s Association.
Snook is a past Board member of the Eastern Ohio Angus Association, having served as President and chair of its Scholarship Committee.
Snook has also been named the 2018 Friend of Ohio Beef Expo by the Ohio Cattleman’s Association, received the 2013 Friend of Conservation Award from the Noble County Soil & Water Conservation District and the 2013 Outstanding Service Award from the Noble County Cattleman’s Association. She has also received numerous Extension awards.
