    Noble County Community Development Strategic Planning Session Offered

    The Ohio State University Extension Noble County is hosting a community development input session April 4, 2019, at the conference room in the multi-county agency building in Caldwell (46049 Marietta Rd.) from 5-6:30 p.m. The session will be led by Gwynn Stewart, M.S., Community Development Educator with OSU Extension Noble County and Marty Hohenberger, Economic Development project manager with the Strategic Planning team from Ohio University Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs.

    The Ohio State University Extension Noble County Office provided members of the OSU Extension Advisory Council a semi-annual update Nov. 13. Program updates included reports from the Agriculture & Natural Resources Educator, Christine Gelley, M.S.; Community Development Educator, Gwynn Stewart, M.S.; 4-H Educators Nancy Snook and Samantha Schott; Family and Consumer Sciences Educator Samantha Schott and SNAP Ed Program Assistant, Lori Harris.

    For 2019, the OSBA will selectively sponsor five 4-H members across Ohio by providing the basic woodenware and toolkits to establish 2 complete hives. By partnering OSBA, Extension 4-H staff, and local beekeeping organizations with the 4-H members undertaking the beekeeping project, the program will support and encourage young beekeepers by providing experienced practical support and reducing the expenses required to get started in beekeeping.

    Beef Quality Assurance Updates

    Beef and dairy farmers who sell cattle through United Producers, Inc. have been formally advised to complete Beef Quality Assurance Training before January 2019. Muskingum Livestock in Zanesville has shared the same advice.

    Throughout 2018, many agricultural organizations and businesses have been sharing the message that some of America’s largest meat distributers will only buy beef that is backed by BQA after the turn of the New Year.
